Parkinson's disease can be prevented WRONG

Parkinson's disease is a disease that occurs as a result of the loss of neurons that produce "dopamine" in the brain and the resulting decrease in this substance. Unfortunately, there is no diet ,lifestyle, or exercise program to prevent Parkinson's disease. Parkinson's disease is seen in 1–3% of people over the age of 60, except for very rare familial conditions.

Parkinson's is a disease seen only in the elderly WRONG

Although Parkinson's disease usually occurs after the age of 60,in 5 to 10% of patients, the initial stage is based on the 20 to 50 range. Genetic causes should be investigated in young patients. The presence of Parkinson's disease in a parent or sibling in the family increases the risk of developing the disease in that person. Hereditary Parkinson's disease usually starts at a young age and constitutes about 5% of all Parkinson's patients.

Every tremor is a symptom of Parkinson's disease WRONG

Symptoms of Parkinson's disease include tremors. However, although it is not correct to say Parkinson's to every person whose hand is trembling, the tremors in Parkinson's disease are mostly seen when the patient is at restand his arms are placed on the edge of the sofa. When the patients with these tremors are asked to raise their arms, the tremors stop. Especially in elderly patients, a facial state that can be expressed as "mask face" with"counting money" trembling in the hands, slowing down in movements,non-participation of the arms in the body sway and walking, clinging to thebody, dulling of the gaze, and a decrease in facial expressions, with small steps and leaning forward while walking, should suggest that this disease may be in the initial stage, and patients should consult a neurologist who specializes in movement disorders.

DBS treatment cannot be applied to elderly patients WRONG

First of all, we would like to remind you that the age of the person is not a criterion for the application of a DBS treatment. The decision for surgery is made according to many different factors, such as the patient's response to medications, mental state, and the anatomical structure of the brain. In some cases, surgery is not recommended for young patients, while surgery can be decided for older patients.

Basically, we can say that DBS surgery do not pose any obstacle to having children. People who do not get a response as a result of medical treatment but who regain their health thanks to DBS treatment can have a child with a close follow-up.

After the DBS is inserted, no other treatment can be applied to the patient in the future WRONG

DBS's are controllable, programmable, and adjustable. When necessary, it is possible tochange or reduce the electrical settings, turn off, or remove the battery. Inmany cases, including the development of a more effective treatment method inthe future, there is no harm in applying new treatments to the patient

Patient suffers during DBS surgery WRONG

In the DBS surgery performed with the principle of "talk-to-talk" and local anesthesia, patients only feel the stinging pain of six needles in total. The responses of the patients to low-current stimuli are observed when they are kept awake during the operation. A frame is attached to the patient's head at the beginning of the surgery. Before the operation, the patient feels the sting of four narcotic needles during the fitting of the frame and may feel pain while making a small hole on both sides during the operation. Apart from these procedures, the surgery is painless and is completed by talking to the patient.
